About StarShot:
The short and sweet description: StarShot is photography blog created by Sarah L. Mancuso (that would be me), and I created it with a few purposes in mind. Each section of the site can be viewed separately:
- Photoblog: My own photography, accompanied by any variety of musings. Mostly new photos, or perhaps some thoughts on old ones. This is actually an “everything else” category in disguise.
- Travelogue: Narrative posts about my travels, accompanied by photography.
- Photoshoot: Announcement of a new recent photo shoot or set, usually with a link to the accompanying photos on flickr.
- Photoshop: Experiments with Photoshop. It’s a skill I’m still at and slowly learning.
- Others’ Photos: Occasionally, I may share some others’ work that I find around the web.
I am also a member of the flickr community, and my complete portfolio can be found at www.flickr.com/photos/starrah.
About Me:

I am 20-something-year-old originally from Western New York. I got my undergrad from Oberlin College in psychology and East Asian studies, followed by one year of AmeriCorps and two years of high school English instruction in Japan. I am currently working on my Master’s degree in education in the United States, and plan on hopping off to some new corner of the world once it’s done.
I started photography in high school with two years of B&W film classes. Then after four years of college when I was too busy to have hobbies, I picked it back up again, and in the process I went digital.
I have sort of a purest approach to photography–I rarely edit the pictures I take, and most of the effects you see in my photography come straight from the camera at the time the picture is taken. There’s something I find really exciting about getting a great photo right from the lens.
And I still have a ton to learn.
